I’m excited to announce that I am collaborating with the Speak Out public speaking center to put on this free webinar to talk about how we can pursue social justice education in a time of mass school closures. I will talk about my own experience trying to homeschool my children during this time, share resources to support parents who are looking for activities for their kids, and talk about how we can build a collective struggle to support the most vulnerable students and families who are hardest hit by the closure of schools and the lack of a social safety net in this country.

Presented by Jesse Hagopian, Award-Winning Educator and Co-Editor of “Teaching for Black Lives”
Webinar Description:
The Seattle area began as the epicenter of Coronavirus in the United States, with over 420 confirmed cases in Washington State and 37 fatalities as of Sunday. Seattle Public Schools were one of the first districts to close its doors for its 52,000 pupils for two weeks. Now districts, independent schools, and higher education institutions across the country have followed suit, thrusting many into the unknown, where the most vulnerable students—especially Black, Brown, low income, and homeless—will be devastatingly impacted.
Jesse Hagopian’s webinar presentation will give us an inside look at ground zero for the spread of COVID-19 and provide ideas for how the new reality of social distancing doesn’t have to mean distancing ourselves from one another’s humanity.
